THE WALK HOME

It’s that time again, you’ve lost all your friends.
It’s been up up up and now it’s down and around on the sidewalk.
Time to turn off your brain and switch on autopilot.

The sun is rising and cars zoom by racing.
Pretty girls with runny make-up try to look good.
But they can’t beat the horizon, it’s understood.

Strangers and night-time desires to start skin-lit fires.
Shadows collide and your memory ain’t so bright.
The morning after begins and you try to remember all your rum&coke sins.
Hands in your pockets, freezing cold.
It’s the walk home.

I’ve been trying to figure out why I live in a prison of doubt.
Day by day with my morning statement
I avoid the guy on the pavement.

He’ll probably just ask if I can spare a fag,
“I’m sorry mate but I can’t even afford a cab”.
Silly boys with drunken hands stand up and fight.
These days life’s a drag, under street-light.

Strangers and night-time desires to start skin-lit fires.
Shadows collide and your memory ain’t so bright.
The morning after begins and you try to remember all your rum&coke sins.
Hands in your pockets, freezing cold.
It’s the walk home.

Strangers and night-time desires to start skin-lit fires.
Shadows collide and your memory ain’t so bright.
The morning after begins and you try to remember all your rum&coke sins.
Hands in your pockets, freezing cold.
It’s the walk home.
